《税务所的故事》以北京某地一个城乡结合部一个小税务所为背景，通过以老陈为首的五名税务干部的日常工作和生活，展现当代生活的多彩画面，折射出税务干部和各色各样的纳税人的人生百态、苦乐悲欢。剧中的五位男女主人公性格各异。年龄、背景也有很大差别，他们各有各的生活观念，各有各的兴趣爱好，各有各的问题、烦恼、弱点甚至缺点。通过五位主人公之间、五位主人公和形形色色的纳税人之间不断发生的碰撞，在基层税务所这个小天地里，上演了一幕幕既令人捧腹又耐人寻味的人间喜剧。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
