这部单镜头情景喜剧松散地改编自编剧Kenya Barris的个人生活经历。主人公是一个中上阶层的黑人（Anthony meijubar.net Anderson），他试图依靠自己保留的「文化特性」来抚育子女，但却在各方面遭遇障碍：开明大方的妻子（Tracee Ellis Ross），因循守旧的父亲，还有被时代「同化」的孩子们全都反对他。。Looking for work, Aaron comes across a cryptic online ad: “$1,000 for the day. Filming service. Discretion is appreciated.” Low on cash and full of naiveté, he decides to go for it. He drives to a cabin in a remote mountain town, where he meets Josef, his cinematic subject for the day. Josef is sincere and the project seems heartfelt, so Aaron begins to film.
